Ever wondered how to make homemade whipped honey butter? It’s super easy and only needs five ingredients – tastes just like Texas Roadhouse Butter!
I don’t know about you, but I have incredible childhood memories of cinnamon honey butter. It’s just the best thing ever, and I still love to whip up a batch to go with a stack of peach pancakes, a slice of cornbread… Or on a spoon, ha!
But if you ask me? The only thing that tops honey butter is if you add cinnamon to it. Think Texas Roadhouse, but in the comfort of your own home, made in 5 minutes flat. And don’t forget to whip up a batch of soft rolls, while you’re at it ?
Ingredients you’ll need

Ingredient notes
- Honey: I recommend using a mild honey that’s runny for best results.
- Butter: I have only ever made this recipe with real butter, not with margarine. I have done some research though, and it appears to work just as well when you use half butter, half margarine OR use all margarine. The taste and texture will be different, but if margarine is what you prefer, it should be fine.
- Icing sugar: This Adds some stability to the honey butter. It works just fine without the icing sugar, but it will have a different texture and tend to be more runny.
- Salt: Adjust the salt amount to your liking. If you’re using salted butter, make sure to reduce the amount of salt you add.
How to make Cinnamon Honey Butter
Is this even a recipe? Just add all the ingredients to a mixing bowl and whip them into a fluffy spread using your hand mixer on high speed.
Either serve the honey butter right away, or store it in a jar in the fridge.
Recipe tips
- Icing sugar: If your icing sugar is very clumpy, you’ll want to sift it before adding it to the bowl with the butter. Otherwise you’ll have a hard time getting the lumps out and your butter will not come out smooth.
- Amount of sweetener: You can absolutely adjust the sweetness of this recipe to your taste. Use anywhere from 2 tablespoons to 8 tablespoons of the honey and icing sugar.
- Storage: Store the honey butter in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to 1 month. It will firm up as it chills.
How to serve Honey Butter
There are many ways to use honey butter – like I said in the beginning, soft dinner rolls or breakfast items like muffins, homemade bread and toast are a classic.
But you can also slather your honey butter on some roasted carrots, steamed sweet potatoes or on roasted butternut squash. I hear some people like it with fried chicken, but that’s a step too far into the salt/sweet combo for me ?
